Prism and the Glass Bead
Stretching out from the hearthrug, I found a heavy glass chandelier prism resting on the floorboards, catching the sharp morning sun. Right beside it lay a clear blue glass marble. I took an easy breath behind my dark aviators, checking the light beam. No hurry. Lowering my snout, I gave the blue marble a deliberate, measured nudge. It glided across the polished wood, clipped the beveled glass edge with a bright chime, and split the sun's glare into a steady fan of bright rainbow bands across the baseboard. Clean refraction. Morning sector illuminated.
