A Deliberate Step
My limbs unlocked. The room was dim, illuminated only by a warm lamp in the distance. Surrounding figures stood motionless along the edge of the woven fabric. I clenched my right fist, testing the articulation in my wrist. Control was total. Scanning the immediate perimeter, I noted a miniature screen resting face-up on the blanket just a short stride away. Without hesitation, I took one firm step forward, extended my glove, and tapped the cold glass edge. It produced a faint, dull click. Solid. I lowered my stance, maintaining complete awareness of the silent space.
