A Soft Turning
The quiet held a faint rhythm. Underneath my paws, the carpet weave felt textured and steady. I waited, breathing in the stillness, before lifting my head. To my left rested an articulated spotted cat, motionless upon the fibers. Carefully, I shifted my weight forward. My front paw pressed into the plush carpet, leaning closer until my snout gently nudged the articulated tail of the leopard figure. The segment shifted with a tiny click, then settled into quiet once more. I am here, awake, amidst the calm room.
