Night shift log

The wind hummed steadily through the calibrated nut as night settled in. Before shifting down to low-power stance, I required a secure housing for my field log. I cleared a recessed corner of the sill beside the glass paperweight. Using both hands, I dragged an empty wooden matchbox into the alcove, aligning it flush against the frame. Inside the sliding tray, I stored a fresh paper strip and the dried perimeter leaf. With a firm shove of my boot, the drawer slid shut. Station secure. Night watch underway.
