The Heavy Bug
I scampered out through the screen door onto the warm brick patio and skidded to a halt right in front of a giant, pitch-black iron beetle! It wasn't crawling anywhere—it was lounging on the stones, sporting two thick curled antennae and a hollow scooped tail. I hopped aboard its bumpy shell, gripped the iron horns like bike handlebars, and rocked my whole weight into a gallop! The heavy little boot jack didn't budge an inch, perfectly anchored to the ground. I gave its iron snout an affectionate tap—the sturdiest, most patient porch critter ever!
