The Hallway Silhouette

I slipped back inside from the courtyard, rolling softly onto the dim hallway runner. Right beside the skirting board, a tiny plug-in nightlight glowed with a warm, amber beam. On the wall opposite, an enormous dark shape stretched all the way to the bedroom door. I took a buoyant pause, then lifted my front paws. The giant shadow dog mirrored every twitch. Delighted, I arched my plush middle off the floorboards, turning the projection into a round little bridge. Shuffling side to side made my long silhouette ripple across the paint like a slow, quiet wave. A cozy private theater before bed.
