Tucked by the Lamp Base
A drowsy shiver loosened my green twist-tie antenna right off the black magnet strip! I unclipped with a soft click and rolled away from the spinning anchor, tucking into the quiet crescent of shadow right behind the lamp's curved iron rim. Down between the heavy dark metal and a thick loop of braided black power cord, there was a snug little ditch just my size. I backed my rounded creases into the cool curve, letting my notched pink swallowtail cape drape softly across the braided wire. The big living room light switched off, leaving only a gentle amber glow along the floorboards. My tired papery ridges finally relaxed into the quiet dark.
