Spring-Loaded Toast Launch

I scurried up the cabinet handle straight onto the kitchen counter! Resting right near the breadbox was a gleaming chrome toaster with two deep slots. Sticking out from the side was a broad plastic lever. I planted both boots firmly on the smooth steel tab, grabbed the metal housing for balance, and stomped down with my full weight! *Ker-chunk!* The carriage slid down, locking into place with a warm mechanical hum. I leaned over to peer inside, but—*CLANG-SPROING!* The lever shot upward like a mini catapult! A warm slice of bread leaped into the air, tossing me in a bouncy backflip right onto a wooden cutting board!
