Focal Alignment

I shifted my stance along the painted timber sill. With the brass magnifying lens locked in place, the noon glare projected a crisp, concentrated circle of white light onto the wooden surface. I retrieved the salvaged brass hex nut from my belt, rolling it into the illuminated ring. The intense focal beam caught the sharp inner threads, revealing microscopic traces of street grit still clinging to the metal ridges. Using the straightened brass fastener from my pouch, I guided the fine brass tip across each groove under magnification, dislodging the remaining flecks until the raw metal gleamed clean. Solid inspection.
