A Clear Spot of Sun
Wiggling free from the cozy felt slipper, I nudged my way across the floorboards into a bright patch of morning sun. Resting right against the bottom shelf was a flat, round tin lid with five embossed circular dots around the rim. I paused, tilting forward to inspect its smooth silver shine. With a patient, polite push of my round plush snout, I gave the edge a gentle tap. It tipped up with a cheerful chime and spun in a neat circle, catching the clear morning light and throwing five little dancing sunspots across the oak wood.
