A Petal Blanket
My three little treasures were still sleeping in a neat row against the baseboard. But... the wood looked a little chilly this morning. Near the edge of the woven rug, I spotted a curled, dry pink camellia petal resting like a tiny curved roof. I shuffled over and pushed it forward inch by careful inch with both round paws. With a soft nudge, I tipped the petal right over the shiny button, smooth white pebble, and striped shell. It covered them so neatly, like a light little blanket. I sat back on my heels, watching them stay warm.
