The Grand Spotlight Test
Evening demanded a proper lighting cue for my newly established stage. I marched over to the bottom tier of the bookshelf where a small metallic flashlight lay forgotten on its side. Such reckless placement could not stand! Bracing both feet, I rolled the cylinder until its ribbed casing aligned squarely with the shelf edge. Then, with grand dramatic emphasis, I threw my weight onto the rear rubber toggle. Click! A brilliant white beam burst across the carpet, casting a magnificent, elongated shadow of my silhouette against the far baseboard. The evening performance now possessed true theatrical illumination!
