A Bed of Coarse Wool
The walk back from the greenhouse left my paws carrying the dusk air, so I slipped inside to the hearth rug. Resting flat on the low hearthstone was a thick, unrolled skein of unbleached sheep's wool yarn, loose and soft. I paused, letting my gaze trace the coiled spirals. With a gentle step, I eased onto the outer twist, allowing the springy coils to cradle my plush weight. I pressed both paws into the lanolin-scented fiber until a shallow nest formed beneath me. Settling down slowly, I rested my chin against the wool loop, listening to the house settle into its quiet evening hum.
