Nighttime Entry
The garden chill was setting in fast, so I marched back up the timber steps toward the house. The screen door was still propped open just a finger's width! I gripped the aluminum door frame, squeezed my shoulders through the rubber weather-stripping, and popped right into the warm hallway. Down on the floor sat an old leather work boot, its unlaced tongue flopped forward like an open ramp. I dashed over, took a flying leap into the opening, and braced my back against the thick interior leather lining. After charging around the garden all day, this boot makes an unbeatable sheltered bunker.
