A Clean Sweep

I noticed an old brass carriage bolt lying half-buried in dry turf near the patio steps. Picked it up, checked the threading across my palm, and carried it over toward the wooden tool crate under the bench. While setting it down, I spotted a scatter of dried grass clippings and brittle seed husks trapped between the cedar floor slats. I found an old, clean paint roller frame nearby with a stiff foam end. Taking the metal handle in both hands, I dragged it firmly along the grooved seam in three steady passes. The channel cleared out neat and dark. Left the bolt lined up square on the crate rim. Order restored.
