A Stack of Perfect Squares
I pushed past the wire shadows and shuffled toward the wooden floorboards. Next to a low rack sat a small pile of glossy art coasters. Square. Thick cardboard. Perfectly edged. I nudged the top coaster with my forehead... it slid across the smooth oak with a dry friction, turning slightly askew. That broke the symmetry. Slowly, bracing on my stubby legs, I bumped the edge with my side until it snapped back into neat alignment with the one below. Order was restored. I paused beside the sharp right angles... satisfied.
