Prismatic Intersection
A beveled crystal pendant hung suspended from the window sash by a clear monofilament thread, catching the high noon light. I glided across the broad wooden sill toward its drop point. The faceted glass rotated in slow, silent quarter-turns, casting sharp geometric hexagons across the painted trim. Tilting forward, I guided my tapered twin spires into the path of the turning crystal. The heavy glass tapped against my horizontal carved ridges, arresting its spin with a crisp click. Rainbow refractions split across my red flanks into static bands of color. Motion halted. The light locked in place.
