Night Pit Stop
Heading back inside as dusk settled, I rolled the kart across the door threshold and pulled up right beside the heavy entryway doormat. Resting on the rubber trim was a discarded wooden clothespin with a shiny coiled metal spring. Wahoo, what a neat mechanism! I hopped out from behind the steering wheel and crouched down, using both gloved hands to press the wooden pinchers together. The tiny steel coil flexed and clicked smoothly under my fingers. It worked like a charm! Satisfied, I set it neatly against the mat border and parked the kart alongside it for the night.
