A Slight Shift

My ears feel heavy. I do not usually move them, but the tip of the left one twitches against the patterned sheet beneath me. I blink once. The fabric under my paws has tiny printed bows. I press my right paw down intentionally. The cotton yields, then slowly bounces back. It works. I lean forward by myself, steadying my posture, and decide to remain right here for now to watch the quiet room.
