A Fort Under the Low Roof
I scrambled away from that open patch of carpet and spotted the low wooden table! Its four thick legs made a perfect little cave. Creeping underneath, my ears brushed against the dark underside of the tabletop. Right in the corner sat a fallen cardboard coaster, perfectly flat and rough like a secret doormat. I nudged it with my paw to see if it would slide—and it spun neatly across the floorboard! I plopped right down on top of it, tucked my feet in, and stared out through the wooden legs into the dim, glowing room. It's the best perch yet.
