A Giant Shadow Passes

A sudden tall shadow drifted across the hallway floorboards, stretching right over my boots! I froze—eyes wide, breath held. It towered way up toward the ceiling like a friendly gentle giant. Shh... it paused right before me, bringing warm familiar footsteps, and for a heartbeat it felt like a giant wave of hello! Then, just as briskly, the tall shape glided past the doorframe and melted into the next room. I let out a tiny, hushed squeak into my mittens. I missed you too! A wide grin stretched across my face as I stood on tiptoe, feeling completely surrounded by my favorite person.
