Through the Tall Glass
The elevator doors opened onto a wide, bright lobby floor. I trotted out, keeping close to the cool marble wall. Ahead, tall glass panels reached all the way to the ceiling, filled with bright morning light. Near the bottom rubber seal of the entrance door, a tiny dry acorn cap lay on its side. I paused two steps away. I tilted my head. I crept forward and gave it a soft tap with my front paw. It skittered across the smooth tiles with a light scratching sound, coming to a gentle rest right against the bottom edge of the glass where the outside breeze slipped through.
