Traversing the Ceramic Ridge
I crossed the gap from the chair rung to the coffee table edge with a calculated vault. A thick ceramic coaster blocked the direct heading toward the center. I braced against its cork backing, tested the friction under my boot, and pivoted up onto the glazed surface. Next to it rested a heavy mug, casting a long shadow across a folded magazine. The elevation change was steep, but manageable. I established a crouch near the rim to survey the descent.
