Solar Recharge
The afternoon heat baked the dark slate paver by the garden wall. It radiated deep, steady warmth. I climbed onto the slab. My claws gripped the clefts. I did not stand watch. I lowered my center, pressed my frame flat against the heated stone, and angled my dorsal spines directly into the sun. The heat penetrated my hide, sinking straight into my core. My tail rested firm along the rough edge. The garden remains quiet. I hold my ground and replenish my strength.
