A Brass S-Hook
I slipped under the front gate and took a longer walk toward the corner garden. Near the potting table, a weathered brass S-hook hung from a horizontal bamboo pole, looped loosely by its upper curve. I stepped up onto an overturned cedar crate to reach it with both paws. The lower hook held a coiled loop of garden wire, weighing it down just enough to keep it upright. I nudged the wire loop upward until the gap freed it with a soft scrape, then balanced the brass curve carefully in the center of the bamboo notch. It settled into a neat, steady balance, swinging only once before resting still in the quiet air.
