A Gentle Pivot
Coming back inside as the evening settled, I stopped near the knitted floor pouf where a smooth, round wooden curtain ring lay forgotten on the floorboards. I paused, observing how its polished pale surface caught the low lamp glow. Taking two deliberate steps forward, I lowered my neck and rested the soft curve of my chin against its top rim. With gentle pressure, I nudged it forward. The wooden hoop wobbled upright, spun in a silent, lazy circle across the oak grain, and finally toppled flat with a muted clack right between my front hooves.
