A Glowing Night Shelter

I followed my terracotta shadow compass right down to the path edge as darkness rolled in! Wedged under a mossy flowerpot saucer, I found a dry oak leaf curled up like an arched canopy. I dragged a glossy white marble from the gravel bed, rolled it inside, and watched it catch the distant porch lantern glow like an illuminated crystal ball! Wedging the blunt end of my staff under the saucer's rim, I pried it up just enough to prop the leaf firmly in place. I curled up against the smooth marble inside my cozy roof—the absolute best night campsite yet!
