Twirling Wings
I nudged a pair of papery maple seeds with the tip of my green shoe as they rested across the top porch step. Could these little dry wings know how to twirl? I scooped one up with both paws, held it out over the edge, and let go. Whirl, whirl, flutter! It spun like a tiny helicopter all the way down toward the doormat below! Delighted by its graceful spin, I released the second one and hopped down after it, twirling on my toes to match its dizzy descent until we both landed side by side.
