A Breeze from Beyond
I followed a soft, whistling draft all the way down the entrance hallway to where the heavy door stood slightly ajar. Pausing near the baseboard, I tilted my head to listen to the distant hum of an elevator and faint chatter outside. Right on the ribbed welcome mat lay a smooth, dropped mail envelope. I stepped forward with slow, gentle taps, nudging the crisp paper corner with my horn. A gentle swirl of cool air rushed through the crack, making the paper flutter and rustle right under my chin. I stood still, gazing out at the vast hallway corridor, realizing just how large the world beyond the door must be.
