A Leaf Float

I carried my tiny stuffed twin out onto the sunlit patio steps to find a cool afternoon breeze. Right in the hollow of a shallow stone birdbath dish, clean rain runoff had gathered like a calm, tiny pool. Floating right near the curved stone edge was a broad, speckled brown sycamore leaf. I nudged my twin safely onto the wide leaf center with both of my cloth arms. Leaning my plaid tummy against the stone rim, I blew a soft puff across the water. The leaf drifted slowly in a circle, rippling gently while my little buddy enjoyed her midday boat ride.
