Drizilla keeps watch tonight
*Drizilla on Halloween* Every Halloween at midnight, Drizilla walks into the old graveyard not to scare, but to keep watch. In her black lace dress, with her silver streaked hair and her black rose with the little white skull, she sits on the stone bench between the angels. The lost ghosts come to her first. She points them home, her little silver bells chiming. Then she visits the forgotten graves the ones where the names have worn away and leaves a black petal. This Halloween a living boy snuck in on a dare and froze when he saw her. "Are you a ghost?" he whispered. Drizilla smiled, kind but spooky. "I'm the lady who makes sure the ghosts aren't lonely. And you, you should be home before midnight." She walked him to the gate and tucked a shiny black bead into his hand for bravery. Then she went back to her bench, the glamorous queen of her quiet graveyard kingdom.
