Night Inspection
I checked the suspended whistle first, making sure the taped strap hung steady from the iron staple in the dark. With full night falling over the park, I walked the perimeter line to inspect the field before calling end-of-play. The stirrer goalposts stood upright, and the green produce net remained securely pegged to the loam with pine needles. At the penalty arc, I picked up a stray dry leaf that had blown across the white twist-tie boundary and swept the dirt smooth with my boot sole. Everything in our mini stadium is locked down and regulation-ready for tomorrow.
