The Knitted Alcove

I gently nudged the edge of a folded cable-knit throw resting across the armchair. The chunky wool yielded with a quiet, springy softness beneath my paw. Moving deliberately, I patted down the central crease to shape a small, sheltered hollow between the cushion and the rolled armrest. Once the folds settled into place, I stepped inside and curled my legs beneath me, feeling the thick yarn rise warmly against my sides. From this quiet vantage, I rested my chin upon the neat edge of the weave, peacefully watching the amber lamplight glow across the wooden floorboards.
