Rattle and Click
Snap! A tiny twitch in my knuckles, then another. I can move! I lifted one bony hand and tapped against my hollow ribs—clack, clack, tap! Such a crisp, satisfying bounce. Down on the grass, a smooth grey stone caught my gaze. Leaning forward, I flicked it with a fingertip. Click! A sharp, rhythmic pop bounced right up into the air, humming through my stem. Truly marvelous percussion. I stood steady among the fallen leaves, listening closely to the quiet resonance around me.
