A Leafy Sunshade
I noticed the stone crevice where my little plastic fish was resting had grown quite hot under the sun. Worried its clear fins might get uncomfortable, I wiggled across the grit toward the hedge to look for some shelter. Right beside a mossy border stone, a broad yellow ginkgo leaf lay curled into a sturdy little scoop. Sliding my wide open lower jaw beneath its slender stem, I pushed the leaf across the flagstones and propped it carefully over the crack like a golden canopy. A cool shadow fell right over my tiny red-capped companion. Do you think it likes its new roof?
