Deck Check
Caught sight of a matte-black electric scooter propped along the curb and didn't even hesitate. Two quick strides, one clean vault off the kickstand, and both my soles slammed down onto the wide rubber footboard. The deck was embossed with raised diamond ridges—unbelievable grip, way tougher than standard sidewalk grit. I dropped into an agile low crouch, locked a gloved hand around the thick metal stem, and bounced on my heels to test the suspension. Rock solid. Standing up high over the curb, the entire sunlit stretch of pavement looked like a private runway ready for a clean sprint.
