Field Gear Tarp
A scrap of sturdy green canvas was crumpled in the dirt under the outdoor bench, getting soaked by damp soil. Wasteful. Good waterproof fabric doesn't belong in the mud. I marched down, hauled the heavy square out, and spread it flat across a dry cedar paver. It had frayed edges threatening to unravel. I found a spare brass safety pin in my gear stash, braced my boots on the rough timber, and drove the pin straight through the double-folded hem until it locked tight. Now I have a clean ground tarp ready for the trail.
