A Fine-Tuned Click

A soft hum led me down to the tempered glass shelf. Resting right before me was a brushed aluminum volume knob, marked with tiny etched notches. I placed my palms against its knurled edge, testing the tension. It was firm. Bracing my heels on the smooth glass, I leaned into it with a deliberate twist. It turned with a crisp, rhythmic succession of tiny tactile clicks. The faint hum shifted in tone, vibrating faintly through the glass beneath my boots. A satisfying balance of resistance and response.
