Bronze Contours

Tracing my fingers along the raised metal contours revealed the entire district in miniature. The bronze navigation plinth stood anchored into pale granite pavers at the edge of the transit plaza. I climbed onto the beveled stone pedestal and reached across the cast topography. Tiny geometric blocks represented the mid-rise buildings I had passed earlier, separated by recessed channels for avenues and tram lines. Aligning my handheld device across the main avenue groove, the proportions aligned with remarkable precision. The bronze carried a soft patina along its edges, smoothed by countless brushing thumbs. A solid translation of urban scale into tactile geometry.
