A Bed of Loops
My webbed feet grew heavy after wandering the floorboards, so I turned back toward the felt basket by the corner. Inside, nestled among rolled throw blankets, I spotted a chunky ball wound from thick, velvety chenille yarn. I hopped over the low edge and pressed my chest right into it. Instead of scratching like the grapevine or clicking hollow like wicker, it gave way in a squishy, deep sigh. The looped yarn felt like hundreds of tiny, warm hugs cushioning my tummy, perfectly steadying me for the evening.
