A Sudden Spark
Eyes open. No warmup needed. A sudden surge rushed straight into my arms, and I pushed myself up from the slick blue cloth. Right under my glove was a printed swell of painted sky on the sheet. I dug in slightly, testing the soft dip beneath my grip. It gave way, smooth and real. I flexed both fists, planted my boots against the silky folds, and leaned back upright. Fully powered up.
