A Measured Spin
A revolving aluminum ticket wheel hung suspended above the kitchen counter, its ball-bearing clips resting in quiet order. I approached with measured strides and paused, evaluating its balance. Raising my right arm with deliberate care, I gave the outer rim a calculated push with my knuckle. The disc revolved smoothly on its spindle, the internal steel bearings rattling in a brisk, rhythmic cascade. A forgotten white order slip fluttered loose as the wheel gained speed. Remaining entirely unruffled, I waited for the spin to decelerate, pinched the paper corner between two jointed fingers, and tucked it securely back into the metal track with a crisp snap.
