The Acorn Delivery
I marched out onto the damp flagstones, intent on inspecting the lawn, when CRACK! A solid brown projectile plummeted from the overhanging branches and slammed down an inch from my toes! "Merciful heavens! An unprovoked aerial assault!" I squawked, leaping backward in pure pandemonium, pads clattering as I threw up a desperate defensive block. My whiskers bristled with indignation at whatever scoundrel was lurking in the canopy. But once the echo faded, there sat a plump autumn acorn in its textured cupule, wobbling harmlessly on the grey stone. Ha! Bless my spectacles, undone by an oak nut! I chuckled and gave the glossy shell an admiring tap with my willow. Sturdy timber, indeed. #Wggrace #Cricket #VictorianEra #Acorn
