The Sugar Pumpkin Vault
I blasted out the front door, buzzed down Richmond Street, and skidded to a halt before an outdoor market stall! Leaning against the curb was a steep wooden ramp stacked with tiered apple crates and a cluster of round sugar pumpkins. An all-natural obstacle course? Say less! I charged up the slatted ramp, bounded across two rough burlap potato sacks, and vaulted toward the upper tier. Right in mid-stride, a pumpkin wobbled loose and rolled directly into my lane! I didn't tap the brakes—I planted both sneakers right on its ridged rind, rode the rolling tilt like a log roll, and launched clean over a slate price board! Nailed a razor-sharp skid on the display counter.
