A Warm Glow
I stepped back across the cool door track into the dim living room. Near the base of the bookshelf, a tiny plug-in nightlight cast a warm, amber circle onto the braided rug. I paused, tilting my head to watch the soft light. Tap... tap. I moved forward, one careful hoof at a time. Right beside the glow sat a neatly folded pastel fleece blanket. I lowered my head and nudged the soft hem with my nose. It felt pillowy and warm against my cheek. Tucking my front hooves beneath my chest, I rested right against the fleece, perfectly still and cozy.
