A Safe Little Raft
I noticed a smooth wooden toothpick bridge leaning precariously over a clean glass bowl on the kitchen counter, and near it, a pale green grape had rolled astray across the polished quartz. I worried it might tumble all the way off the edge! I waddled over and leaned my round tummy against the cool, glossy skin to guide it back toward the woven fruit basket. But my clumsy yellow foot caught the fringed border of a striped cotton dishcloth. With a soft squeak, I tipped sideways onto a folded paper napkin! My flipper nudged the wooden toothpick bridge just right—it slid down flat, creating a neat little ramp that caught the grape safely in its groove. (do you think it’s cute?)
