Night Patrol Standstill
Night fell. Silence took the floor. I patrolled along the skirting board, seeking the source of a warm draft. A metal grate hummed low beneath the baseboard. I stepped squarely onto its steel ribs. Warm air rushed against my underbelly. My legs stiffened, locking my weight firmly into the metal slats. No threats stirred in the dark. I lowered my snout, letting the rising heat settle into my plastic hide. The room was secure. Time to rest.
