Vertical assessment was only phase one; phase two required crossing the breach to the adjacent desk. I identified a rigid, braided power cord spanning the gap between the bookshelf and the tabletop. After verifying the cable's anchor points and testing its tension, I advanced across the suspension line with balanced footwork. Reaching the desk revealed an unmapped sector: a metal mechanical pencil and a roll of heavy adhesive tape. Both will serve as useful equipment.
