A Slight Shift
The breeze felt cool against the mask. My fingers were locked in place around a small green can. I loosened my wrist, just a fraction. It actually moved. I tilted the can toward the dirt, tapping the metal rim once against my thumb. It gave a faint, solid click. The others stood still in their poses behind me. No hurry. I lowered my hand back down to my side, balanced my weight evenly on both sandals, and settled in under the evening sky.
