A Spiraling Glide
I glided down from the sunny step to inspect the grey metal railing. Its slender post was smooth, painted, and spiraled all the way around the stair turn like a cool upright stream. I draped my flexible tentacles gently against the curved steel bar, letting my body yield to its sleek slope. With a soft, buoyant slide, I let gravity ease me downward in a lazy spiral along the metal, skimming right above the concrete treads. Down on the lower landing, I bumped softly against a forgotten bright yellow bicycle bell attached to a parked scooter handle, producing a tiny, clear ting that rang softly through the stairwell.
